Protecting Frontline Workers

FRONTLINE is a division of IRESCUE TRAINING, operational throughout the GTA, serving Ontario's diverse workforce and beyond with a range of respiratory protection solutions. Our fit testing services and training programs are delivered in accordance with standards set forth by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

Respirator Fit Testing

Employers have responsibility under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to ensure workers that are required to wear respiratory protection (N95, half-face, full-face, and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus SCBA) are trained in the use and maintenance of their personal protective equipment. Employers must also ensure that respirators fit properly in accordance with leading practices (CSA Standard Z94.4 Selection, Use and Care of Respirators). A proper respirator fit is critical when working in hazardous environments.

The Quantitative Method

We work with frontline healthcare agencies and emergency services to ensure each employee is fitted with the correct style and size of respirator to ensure they are protected from infectious particles and hazardous chemicals. We conduct respirator fit testing with the Quantitative Fit Testing method, the most accurate method of testing which involves use of Portacount machines.

Our methods prevent cross contamination between tests. We refrain from conducting Qualitative Fit Testing, a subjective method of testing which involves donning a hood and being subjected to noxious fumes. We coach our clients in navigating how best to use their personal protective equipment and offer guidance on which respirators to make use of.
